Best Time for Rafting

Rafting season in Rishikesh runs from September to June. The best months are October–November and March–May when the water levels are ideal. Rafting is closed during the monsoon season (July–August) due to high water levels.

Is river rafting in Rishikesh safe?

Yes, all our operators are government-certified with trained guides, international-standard safety gear, and swift water rescue training.

The minimum age is 14 years for 16 KM and above stretches. For the 9 KM stretch, children aged 10+ can participate with parental consent.

No, swimming is not required. Life jackets are provided and guides give a complete safety briefing before the trip.

 

What should I wear for rafting?
Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet — shorts and a t-shirt are ideal. Avoid jeans. Carry a change of clothes and wear secure footwear like sports sandals.

We don’t recommend it as there’s a high chance of losing them. Waterproof GoPro videos are available for purchase from the operator.

Rafting operates from September to June. It is closed during monsoon (July–August) due to dangerous water levels.
